What to check before you export

The editor never leaves you guessing about state. Two indicators, both always visible, decide whether you're ready to export: the save state and the preview status.

  1. 1

    Check the save state

Unsaved changes means exactly that; Saving… is in flight; Saved means your edits are in. Export protects you here anyway: it waits for saving before rendering.

  2. 2

    Read the preview status

"Preview up to date" or "Everything up to date" means what you see is what renders. "Updating preview…" and "Applying your edits…" mean wait a moment; "Preview outdated" means the preview lags your edits, not the export.

  3. 3

    Play the final pass

Watch the whole video once in the editor: message, takes, captions, sound. The fullscreen control makes it an honest screening.

  4. 4

    Export

Export renders your saved version. The exported file always includes your saved edits, even when the preview hadn't caught up yet.

If something looks off

  • A banner says the video was updated elsewhere. Another session changed the video. "You have unsaved edits. Load the latest version to keep working.": pick Load latest, re-check your scenes, then export.
  • I keep second-guessing the result. The complete checklist exists for exactly that: a structured pass over message, takes, captions, audio and export.
