Troubleshooting captions

Caption problems in ReadyForm almost always trace to one of three mechanisms: estimated timing after an edit, a transcription that is still catching up after a take switch, or a preview that hasn't re-rendered yet. All three announce themselves in the interface.

If something looks off

  • Words land slightly next to the audio after an edit. The app labels this: your edit left the caption timing estimated. It fixes itself as soon as the preview updates; Sync now (Re-sync with audio) fixes it immediately.
  • "Captions catching up with the new take…" hangs around. After a take switch the scene re-transcribes. If it couldn't refresh, the app says so and retries on your next edit. Making any small edit in the scene triggers the retry.
  • The preview shows old captions. Check the preview status. "Preview outdated" or "This video doesn't include your latest edits yet" means your edits are saved and the video needs a re-render; the export always includes your saved edits.
  • Re-sync reports partial success. "1 scene re-synced, 1 failed": the failed scene retries automatically on the next preview. Nothing is lost.
  • A caption shows a word nobody said. Fix it in the story (double-click, Edit text). If the transcript keeps mishearing your terms, paste a script at upload and put product names in the brand's keywords.
  • Captions look different in the export than in the editor. First make sure the export came after your last save (Saved, then Export; the app even holds the export until saving finishes: "One moment, saving your changes first"). If a saved edit still renders wrong, that's a bug: contact support with the video and the timestamp.
