Help · Uploads & processing

What to do when an upload fails

The uploader distinguishes two bad outcomes, and they need different fixes. Rejected means the file didn't meet the requirements and never started uploading. Failed means the transfer itself broke.

  1. 1

    Read the file's status

Each file in the list carries its own state: queued, uploading, uploaded, rejected, failed. The summary line counts them ("Done, 4 clean, 1 rejected, 0 failed").

  2. 2

    Rejected: fix the file

Format or size. Re-export as MP4, MOV or M4V under 500 MB and add it again with Add files. "Too large" says exactly which limit you hit.

  3. 3

    Failed: fix the connection

"Upload failed. Please try again." is transfer trouble: a dropped connection, a sleeping laptop, an expired session. Check your network, stay on the page, retry.

  4. 4

    Incomplete video: start clean

A video whose upload never finished says so on its page: "This upload never finished. Delete the video and upload it again." Do that rather than adding files to a broken one.

If something looks off

  • Uploads keep failing on one network. VPNs and strict office proxies sometimes kill large uploads. Try another network or hotspot once to isolate it.
  • The browser tab must stay open? Keep the tab open until the files reach uploaded; the transfer runs from your browser. After that, processing and rendering run server-side and you can leave.
